no KFS you should see show saddles in magizenes.ans whata AU? and the only reason more people are voting for english is b/c they ride english. the votes might as well say," wat do you ride? english or western?"

I have been riding for all my life well sense about 6years old! I have been at all sorts of thing's about horses, and I would say it's english! I just went to a tack swap put on by 4-H and it had a lot of saddles! I could get a western saddle for $200 even $75 bucks. The english saddles were starting at about $350 and that was not that good of saddle to tell you the truth. But some times western is a lot of money to! It's not just english, I mean english isn't the only one that you spend big bucks on,lol.

Even though I ride western, I know that English is more expensive. When it comes to tack. Clothes I would say western when showing because every little diamond has to be on there. Tack though, I got my show saddle for I believe almost 2k and the english saddle of my neighbors that I use for jumping for fun cost her like 3k and it isn't even that nice

In my opinion, seeing that I have been riding English all my life, English, is what I'd have to say is more expensive. With all the tack, boots, show's, just getting into the class and certain circuit's, the rider's apparel(sp), and all that, I have to go with English is more expensive. Hand's down.

LQH- Go to Quarter Horse congress, then say you haven't seen a western saddle for over 4,500. Harris saddles go for 8k (8,000) USED. There was one, on a spinning saddle rack with fancy lights on it ect, selling for 35k (35,000) Its ridculas Either way, like Winny pointed out, this poll is not to argue over which discpline is better.

I love western, I have tryed English and for me it doesn't work. I still show both when I can, but I have found the prices are about the same, but English is a little more.

I believe this poll is too difficult to anwser concering there are too many uncertainties! There are to many specifics you must consider. Will you be showing? What is your budget? Are you a spoiled-brat and your parents buy you what ever you want? Are jumping, doing dressge, hunter jumping, or competing in cross-country? Are you reining, barreling racing, pleasure riding, or cattle tying? And yes, I can keep listing...

To show western pleasure type classes and reining/working horse type class is a lot if you show any cattle type classes you have to pay cattle fees including your entry fees granted the dress is a tad simpler. Western Pleasure type class are just the basic entry fee and drug fee and all the misc fees charged. The dress is a lot outrageous thou. examples of cost below bsaddle/b 3-20k for both western pleasure more to the 20k this is to fit in at the highest level. bProof/b http://www.blueribbontack.com/saddlemain.html bBriddles /b Can range from 50-1k depending wether it is work or show bproof/bhttp://www.blueribbontack.com/headstalls1.html Now this is only the basic when showing at a western show there is another class called showmanship where you need a silver show halter in english you use your briddle right there is and added cost that english doesnt have......

Um.... Blackies Fresians, Western Saddles With silver only cost about $2,000.00, I've never in my WHOLE life seen a saddle for more than $4,500.00. I Think English does cost more because of the atire, Like the different coats, hats, Breetches, ect...

It depends. Some western apparell costs alot but then again, you can just wear whatever. To ride english properly and comfortably, you need jodphurs, sturdy english, showing jumping, dressage saddle (All different) Different types of bridles. It costs alot more if you are showing. Definitely English.
